Our Mission is to restore hearts and minds and transform our city through social advocacy and discipleship that meets individuals where they are at. We believe in our city and as a Redding native, I am seeing transformation by sound investments in people, places, and business!
Through the transforming power of the gospel of Jesus Christ we are serving some of the most overlooked and broken in our community. We have hundreds who walk through our doors each month looking for hope, freedom, and to be accepted, in this we have seen the Light House become a bridge to a new life and are so thankful for the lives that God is transforming. We aim to create an atmosphere of family, whether homeless, addicted to drugs, or been abused we want them to know they are seen and heard and greatly loved, instilling values and worthiness into each heart. We love to serve them food on a weekly basis because we believe God's children should not go hungry. We invite individuals from every race, background, faith, and gender to come and partcipate in the restoration of hearts and advocate for those in need of justice.
Located at 1090 California Street, the Light House Church is the oldest standing structure in Redding. It was built in 1894 by African American pioneers immigrating from the east coast following the civil war. Originally an A.M.E Zion Church. this building stands as a symbol of church unity, reconciliation, and restoration of hearts as well as the oldest standing A.M.E. building in the state of California. It is an iconic building in the city of Redding and is a cornerstone on the list of the Redding's historical buildings.
This building has sat in an unfinished state of restoration for several years and the time is now to be completed! We believe that with the restoration and proper stewardship of this iconic structure and the ministry we are engaged in, will have considerable impact in the morale of the downtown and will quickly become a gem to be seen in our wonderful city regardless of religion, race, or social standing.
As we grow , we anticipate transiitional housing , counseling , and trade businesses to begin employing those lives that are being transformed. The funds that are raised will all go towards the ministry needs and ongoing facilities as listed below:
- Food ministry (we feed a hundred to two hundred individuals hot meals each week)
- Basic needs services (clothing , hygiene , shelter )
- Social Justice , Education , and Advocacy
- Landscaping (currently a dirt lot around building )
- Completing the exterior painting (UPDATE!! THIS IS COMPLETED!! LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!!)
- Ongoing cost's of distribution and resources for food ministry
- Interior Flooring renovation THIS IS DONE SEE PHOTO !!
- Bus Tickets for those stranded in redding homeless, we will purchase bus tickets for them to get home or in some cases to rehab facilities
- electrical, and sound equipment - signage - Fencing - Storage for ministry and community outreach THIS IS COMPLETE !!!! - Ongoing facilities and ministry costs (utilities , buidling payment , regualar cleaning to maintain Pandemic sanitary guidlines ) - Administrative costs - Skilled labor
